"Ghosts?" The boy blinked while rubbing his chin as if he were giving considering to Karis' description. "That...could be accurate...though not completely." he replied softly. The girl who was watching on the other side simply closed hers and shook her head. "I can assure you that I'm very much alive..." she stated. At that, the boy looked up and frowned. The fact that he could be seen by not just Zell disturbed him greatly. Within seconds of Karis' attack his body vanished. The girl however stayed in place observing the battle.

Zell was freaking out big time! He looked down at the long timber that had been shoved into his chest. What was he suppose to do with that? He looked back, his blue eyes wide as he watched Karis take on the little imps. This was perfect! The little buggers were focusing on Karis. "Keep it up!" Zell encouraged before before taking off into a sprint. This was his chance to escape! He ran straight towards the young girl and grabbed her hand. The girl stared blankly at Zell as he pulled her along. "You intend to abandon her?" she asked softly. Without a moment of hesitation, Zell nodded. "How predictable..." she mumbled and pulled away from Zell's hand. Zell looked back. What the hell? Suddenly, the demon that had been terrifying the city from above dropped down onto the street right in front of Zell! It let out a beastly roar which sent flying! How ironic was it that he ended up right back at the same spot where he had left Karis to fight on her own?

Everything was falling apart. It looked like the entire city would be destroyed. When Zell awoke, he found that a few soldiers had come to help fight off the demon. As usual, Karis was alive and kicking. Imps were running about everywhere. Zell also noticed that even though there were people fighting back there were also many wounded scattered about the docks. "This cant be happening..." Zell whispered to himself. "I'm afraid it is." came the same soft whisper from the same hooded boy. He was kneeling down by Zell's side. "You are unfit for the path of a warrior...and in yet...you do have some strength. At the same time however, your mana reserves are much higher then that of a warrior...but lower then that of a mage." he whispered. Zell painfully shifted his eyes from side to side. Did anyone else notice the little boy who was blabbering about mana and what not? The boy gaze Zell a puzzled expression before rising up to his feet. "I've got it. I'll give you a gift. IF you want to survive...use it." he stated, his voice no longer in whisper form. He leaned in and pressed his hand hard against Zell's chest. Zell's body instantly hit the ground! He opened his lips to scream, but not a sound came out. Something was being transferred into his body. Once the boy was done, he stood to his feet. "That girl...she is clearly a warrior. You however are not. No. You are whats known as a combat medic." he stated just before vanishing. Zell sat up now. He felt...weird. Also, he had a brand new blade in his hand! Where had it come from? What was he suppose to do???

“At least I’m coming up with ideas!” Karis shot back angrily. She couldn’t believe she saved this ungrateful idiot. Her eyes scanned the pier for even a single boat left they could snag, but there wasn’t any. Hell, there wasn’t even a pier left! “This is just great,” she muttered, ducking away from the enormous shadow passing overhead. She was about to speak, but stopped dead when three more massive eggs dropped down around them, the spawns popping out, snarling. Without knowing, or caring, Karis backed up until her back was pressed against Zell’s. She grabbed a piece of wood splintered from the pier and held it, ready to swing it at anything that moved.

“How long will you run?” Karis froze. “What was…that?” she asked softly, twisting her head around to find the disembodied voice. It sounded so strange, so ghostly. “What was—“ and then she saw him, the little boy whose words gave her the chills. On the other side, there was a girl. “Who are they?” she asked to one in particular. She couldn’t tell if things were getting better or worse. “They don’t look human. Almost like ghosts.” She swung the wood, knocking one of the imps across into another. Now isn’t the time to be looking at strange kids! We’re gonna die if you don’t do something! But as she gripped the wood tighter, she realized she still had her Blitzball! “Hold this!” she ordered, shoving the wood in Zell’s direction and taking out her ball. She examined the imps, then drew back, and launched the ball, hitting one…two…five imps in one shot. She continued to throw it, trying to aim just right so the ball would bounce off and eliminate more targets in one go.

Leave Zanarkand? Zell had to admit that it had always been a dream of his. Everything he hated in his life could be found within the city. For whatever reason though he had never found the strength to leave. In his opinion, Zanarkand was just as fucked up as any other city in Spira. Zell stared hard at Karis. Before he could answer her though, the demon that had been terrorizing the city flew over head sweeping up a mixture of dust, dirt, and sea water onto the pier. It let out a phantom like cry as it shot another Ultima blast towards the end of the pier destroying the boats and anyone who had been trying to escape ahead of Karis. Zell's body was immediately thrown to the ground thanks to the after shock of the demon's attack. He looked over at Karis. Was she trying to get them killed? "Anymore bright ideas?" Zell mumbled and slowly rose up to his feet. Just then, the demon dropped more eggs, three in total right around Zell and Karis. The little imp broke free from their prisons and surrounded Zell and Karis. Zell was completely out of his league. He hated fighting with a passion. He turned on his heels ready to run...while leaving Karis behind...but was cut off by one of the imps. "How long will you run?" came the soft whisper of a boy's voice. Zell turned to his right. He had to squint a little..and he was sure he was seeing things...but Zell could have sworn that the same boy he had met at the game was standing off in the distance. Did Karis see him? Could she hear him? If things weren't weird enough, Zell also noticed the strange girl he had met standing off to the side too. She was watching them from what little had been left of the pier. "What the hell is going on?! What did I do to deserve being attacked by winged demons and weirdo kids??!"

Karis flinched at the painful scratching sound. It was a mixture of grinding metal and nails on a chalk board, two sounds she couldn’t stand. She started up the car, put it in reverse, and slammed down on the pedal. The car went crashing through the thin metal door, sending the smaller minions flying, some getting crushed by the tires. She put the car forward and sped off, trying hard to avoid panicked pedestrians. The creatures were everywhere! She glanced out the window, seeing nothing but chaos.

“Your guess is as good as mine!” she shouted back. She eased through a large crowd and onto a relatively cleared road headed for the pier. From there, she had no idea where they would run to. Most of the roads were blocked by debris from the explosion. “What could this be happening?” she muttered to herself. What the hell were they supposed to do? The closer they got to the pier, the fewer people she saw. They hadn’t yet made it out this way, which meant there was still a chance they could escape onto a boat! “Hey, you know anything about boats?” she asked him suddenly. The pier was just up ahead and she began to slow the car. “That’s our only shot! We could get a boat and get away from this place, at least until…” She turned back, hearing the fearsome roar of the demon. “Or not. C’mon, let’s find a boat and leave!”

Zell was completely frozen. Everything was being blown to bits. It was the first time Zanarkand had been attacked since...well...the war with Bevelle! He was spacing out so much that he didn't even notice his hand being grabbed. His eyes stayed glued on all the destruction. When they entered the garage, Zell finally snapped out of his trance. His clear blue eyes shot wide open! Why was someone like Karis holding his hand? Quickly, Zell pulled away from her. Had she saved him? If so...why? There must have been someone more important. "I dont recall asking for your help. Mind your own business next time." Zell frowned and started walking back towards the garage door. He was convinced that all of this was just a bad dream. Any second he would wake up in his makeshift bed and stare up at the roof of his hole-in-wall house.

Sadly, the days events were far from a dream. The massive shadow of the demon soared over head. Zell looked up just in time to see some sort of...eggs being dropped down onto the ground. It only took a second after seeing one hatch for him to run back into the garage and jump into the car. "Get us out of here!!!" Zell screamed just as a hoard of the demon's spawn came rushing inside the garage! Zell had never seen such blood thirsty monsters. He curled up as far away from the doors as he could. He could hear the painful scratching of glass from the little minions claws. "Are they fiends?! What the hell is going on?!!!!"

Ooc: no problem, been fairly busy myself lol

Ic: Karis’ left eye twitched as she stared nervously at the man, his chubby hands extending a pen toward her, his belly jiggling and making her nauseous. Oh, great. Could this day get any more ridiculous? It had been awhile since Karis had been caught up in a crowd after a game and of course it would have to happen when she was in a hurry. She took the pen. “Uh, sure.” If she signed and got it over with, there was a chance he would just leave. But as soon as she scribbled her signature, three more pens were thrust in her directions, their demands blurring into one massively annoying hum. She sighed heavily, signing pieces of paper as she went along, struggling to escape the growing crowd.

But then everything went dark. Karis found herself thrown to the ground; the crowd bombarding her suddenly vanished. She felt a sharp pain racing through her body and when she opened her eyes she saw people scattered everywhere and a large cloud of smoke billowing from the stadium. “What the…?” She turned her head to look around. Some people were screaming and it took her a moment to register why until a hulking shadow flew overhead. Her eyes widened and she slowly stood to her feet, mouth open. “What is that thing?” she murmured to herself. The demon sent another beam of energy, hitting the edge of the stadium. Karis snapped out of her daze and began running, trying hard to dodge the debris flying everywhere. She spotted a boy with dirty blonde hair about her age looking as confused as she was. “Hey you!” she shouted. “Don’t stand there, you’ll get killed!” She was running right at him and when she was close enough to grab his hand. “Come on, follow me! If you stay here you’ll die!” By then her hat and glasses had fallen from her and were somewhere on the ground dirty and broken. She pointed to a nearby building that looked to be a local storing g garage for vehicles. “My driver is in there! He can take us some place safe!” Whatever safe meant with a flying monster destroying everything.

ooc: sorry it took so long, been really busy

ic: During the game, Zell watched with mild interest. The Abes were winning...as usual. The other team never really stood a chance yet the crowd was roaring for victory. Zell rolled his eyes and leaned back in his seat. Why had he even bothered getting up out of bed? As he tried to remember, Zell's vision shifted to his right. There was...an odd little boy dressed in blue hooded clothes and black tattered pants. On his shirt he carried strange yellow markings. What really got Zell's attention was that the kid had been staring at him for a solid five minutes. "Take a picture it will last longer." he smirked. The hooded kid simply smiled. "Not a fan?" he asked. Zell let out a groan. "Its just...nothing ever really changes. Everyone knew they'd win. I dont see what the big deal is..." he muttered, though more to himself. The hooded boy sat back and crossed his arms over his chest. "Perhaps that is because...you deny yourself to dream...and as a result you chained to a world in which you know little of..." he stated softly. "Ehh??" Zell blinked and turned around only to find that the runt he had been talking to was gone. "What...the hell??" he blinked, but shrugged it off and turned back around. "Todays kids are just weird..."

As the game grew towards a close, Zell noticed another kid who was sitting to his left. This one however was older and a girl. She had a weird get up though. The way she was dressed you would of thought she was some kind of priestess or something. She sat in a trace, though her eyes weren't on the game. Zell looked around slowly and then back at her. At that moment, their eyes met! "Oh shit.." Zell thought to himself. He knew she had caught him staring and he quickly turned around. He wasn't expecting the girl to suddenly get up and place herself practically in his lap. Zell leaned back, his head tilting to the side. The girl was...cute, but there was something weird about her eyes. He felt like he was being judged...or maybe sucked in? "Dreaming is overrated." the girl replied with just a bit of ice in her voice. "Ok...what the hell?" Zell thought and leaned back a little more. He blinked and all of a sudden the girl was gone! Zell jumped to his feet two seconds away from having a heart attack. It wasn't long though before he was forced back down into his seat by a few fans who were sitting behind him.

After the game ended, Zell rubbed the back of his head. Today had just been plain weird. He couldn't explain any of it either. "Hey watch where the hell-" came the sound of a harsh voice. Zell looked over. It looked like some girl had bumped into...well...a hippo of a man. "Hey wait a sec..." he mumbled and leaned in super close to Karis. "Hey I know you! You...OH MY GOD! YOU'RE KARIS THE HAMMER!!!!!" he yelled out and in seconds the poor girl was surrounded by a sea of fans. A wide grin formed on the fat man's lips as he pulled up his shirt allowing his...jello like flab to jiggle right in front of her. "Hey sign my chest will ya? I'm your numba one fan!" he exclaimed. Zell let out a small sigh and shook his head. Again, people were making a big deal over nothing. The elite carried way too much power in his opinion.

Thats when it happened.

Zell wasn't sure what was going on, but his body had been thrown to the ground. His hearing was going in and out and his mouth carried the taste of chunks of dirt. There were people lying all over the street, some screaming, some not moving at all. Zell sat up and coughed hard. His head was pounding. Just as he was about to force himself up though Zell's clear blue eyes gazed up at the top of the stadium. Something was...landing...some sort of flying...demon? Zell's body suddenly froze completely. The demon had extended his wings and was now hovering high above the stadium. A second later, it unleashed a dark blast from it lips right into the center destroying the stadium...and almost everything around it...

OOC: I wasn't sure how to reply^^; I've forgotten a lot about Blitzball, so its a very bland post... Hope its okay for a start, if not lemme know!

ic: When the players entered the water sphere, the crowd went wild. Their shouts became indistinct and meaningless to Karis as she jetted out before her teammates. She was the newest player, the shining new star that would lead them to victory. It was a sport she enjoyed, yet on a professional level, she could do without the publicity. The attention wasn’t something she thrived on unlike some of her teammates. All she wanted to do was play. Her father was a Blitzball player, a rather good one at that and his reputation had passed onto her. Karis glanced over at her teammates before getting into position.

In a few moments, the ball was released, starting the game. One of Karis’ teammates got the ball, sending it flying to her. She didn’t let it stop, but instead sent it flying through the ring. The crowd went wild while the opposing team glared daggers and sent secret signals to their teammates of their next move. Karis smirked softly, knowing too well what the other team had planned and sent a signal of her own to her teammates. In just the few short minutes the game had begun it had already turned into a vicious competition. Karis effortlessly moved about, taking the blitzball and sending it hurling. The other team made no dent in their score. Soon it came down to 23 against 10 and the final moment was building. Karis rushed forward, spun, and used her powerful legs to send the ball flying through the ring seconds before the time was up. 26 to 11. They had won.

One by one the players left the sphere, waving to the crowd and they cheered loudly. Karis on the other hand gave a short wave and ducked out of the sphere before her teammates could. Outside, they each congratulated her, which she shrugged off. “It’s not a big deal…” she told them. Karis never wanted to be a professional Blizball player, but she was too good to go unnoticed. The deal was she could play Blizball all she wanted so long as she kept the team winning. That wouldn’t be the problem.

Outside, Karis had pulled her hair up into a braid and wore a hat and sunglasses to help shield her identity as she slipped away from the stadium. She thought she was safe…until she bumped headfirst into someone. She fell with a loud thud, her sunglasses falling down her nose. “I’m so sorry,” she said quickly, looking up. Karis was rather small, so it didn’t take much effort to knock her down. She stood to her feet, brushed herself up and looked around to make sure no one had seen her as she fixed her sunglasses. “Are you alright?” Outside the field, Karis appeared more delicate and soft, a complete opposite to how she appeared playing Blitzball. One would barely recognize her in a more feminine appearance.

How long had it been since Spira had narrowly avoided destruction? How long had it been since war between the Youth League and New Yevon factions had threatened to destroy the world? How much time had passed since Spira had felt the pains of heart ache and loss? High Summoner Yuna had dedicated her life to promoting peace within Spira. War was a terrible thing, a thing which had almost destroyed Spira...twice. Together with her hunky Blitzball star, the two of them embarked on a road of change. Spira's will could not be questioned. It was time to learn from the lessons of the past and move forward. There was no place for New Yevon, not when the entire religion had been built on an altar of lies and blood. At the same time however, Spira desperately needed to monitor how deeply the populace became consumed by technology. There had to be balance, a line between the two. Yuna and Titus had spent their final days doing everything they could to maintain that line. Many feared that after the death of the power couple, Spira would descend back into pure chaos. However, many still remembered the words of wisdom the High Summoner had spoken just shortly after Sin had been defeated. "The people and friends we have lost...or the dreams that have faded...never forget them." Many took those words to heart. The road was long and hard, but ultimately Yuna's ideals had been preserved and the Era of Eternal Calm continued...

That was over 200 years ago...
Now, Spira had become a modern day world filled with a mixture of technologies and religions. Additionally, the ruined city of Zanarkand had been completely restored and now stood as Spira's capital city! The era of Eternal Calm had passed. Now was the era of Growth and Prosperity. To insure this growth, the first High King of Zanarkand had passed a law forbidding the art of summoning. It was considered a barbaric practice that only resulted in destruction. At first, there were mild revolts, however with the new state of the world, it wasn't long before the art of summoning was completely forgotten. Magic as a whole had almost been completely wiped out as well. Only the "outsiders" and "savages" of the population still practiced magic.

Now, Spira had entered the 10th year of the era of Growth and Prosperity. A new High King now sat on Zanarkand's throne. He was a young handsome man filled with ambition! Many were looking forward to the incoming years and couldn't wait to see what kind of advancements the new king would put into place. Yes, Spira was forever changing. However, the memory of Titus and Yuna had not been forgotten. No, a statue had actually been raised at the top of a high cliff that over looked Zanarkand. The couple were still famous and were looked at as a symbol for how Spira should be. However, not all were as...fond...of the overshadowing presence of the dead couple.

The games were on! The new Blitzball season had officially opened. The first game was going to be in honor of the the new High King. The streets were filled with excitement! Everyone was talking about the new hot shot rookie who had just joined the Zanarkand Abes! There was even a picture of her being displayed just outside the stadium. "Pft...whatever..." came a low grunt. A tall boy with dirty blonde hair scowled at the picture. The 17 year old quickly turned his back and vanished into the crowd. Spira was always getting excited over something. They were always placing the 'elite' on a platform which no one could reach. "Maybe the Abes will finally get their asses handed to them..." the boy chuckled. He hated the city. He hated everything about it. Sighing softly, he made his way to his seat and sat down. He looked lazily towards the giant floating sphere of water. From one side swam the Abes and their new female player. "Here we go..." Zell groaned only to receive an elbow from a near by fan. Zell leaned back in his seat, his dark blue eyes gazing down upon the so called 'star'

ooc: ok, hope you dont mind but I kinda set you up to be the one who plays blitzball. I thought that would be more interesting seeing that Zell has his own reasons for hating the city, its people, and just about everything else. IF you have any questions pm me XD
